Who are we and what do we do? We are a children's nursery catering for children from 7 months to school leavers. Here at ONE we have a very simple ethos, learning through play is the best way to learn and the best place to play is outside! Our Early Learners enjoy a woodland classroom, just a 10 minute walk from the nursery and have quality learning experiences with our practitioners. When we aren’t exploring the woods, you can find us out in the garden climbing, swinging, running, jumping, singing, skipping, discovering and growing things, and if you can’t find us there, we will be in the local community.
"Staff always seem happy to see us when we come in in the morning. This makes a big difference, I go away feeling that my children are cared for." ONE Parent
Our Mission At ONE, we provide early learning and childcare for children aged 7 months to school age. Our mission is to harness the inspiration that nature provides and create outdoor learning opportunities and experiences that will enable children to build essential skills for life.
Why Outdoors? We are absolutely passionate about outdoor learning and believe that children who play and learn through nature and the outdoors are some of the healthiest and happiest around. There is a wealth of research that is greatly in favour of children learning outside. The simplest way of answering 'Why outdoors?' is this: The outdoors is always changing, always different from one day to the next. This allows expansion of language, problem solving, open ended materials for imaginative play, space, exploration about life cycles, nature, science, the changing of seasons, what to wear on a sunny day, what to wear when there is sideways rain (what to wear when there is both in one day!). There are endless possibilities in imagination and inquisitive play when you are outdoors and they are the building blocks of a child's life long relationship with learning.
"I am delighted with the level of care and the quality of experiences my children get at One. The outdoor/woods time is fantastic and allows them to learn safety as well as creativity." ONE Parent
"My best thing is the garden and the forest. I know a lot of things about the animals that live there." ONE Child
Caring for the Environment We try to be as eco-friendly as possible, this means we like to recycle, be good to the environment, keep our local community free from litter, turn off lights where we don’t need them and invite our tiny friends into our garden. We are also very proud that we use biodegradable baby wipes and where possible eco-friendly nappies such as Naty nappies :) Our cleaning products are almost exclusively eco friendly too! We use Organic meat products, organic milk, red tractor cheese and in our cooking we try our best to use locally sourced and seasonal produce. Our Menu is also *Award Winning*
